Breathing new life into the Kokomo Beach Family Aquatic Center
It’s amazing what a fresh coat of paint can do to renew a location, and the Kokomo Beach Family Aquatic Center is a perfect example of what a fresh coat of paint can do. Our company was hired to refresh the main building and refreshment pavilion, and the changes make for a whole new look that is eye-catching and suiting for the aquatic center.

Kokomo Beach Family Aquatic Center – The Before
Exterior paint can fade after many years exposed to the elements, and that’s precisely what happened here. As you can see in the pictures above the blue-green along the trim was quite desaturated, and the brown on the wood paneling was faded and patchy.
The gates and the bicycle racks were also yellow. While this color wasn’t as washed out, it was rubbing off or chipping in some spots.
Needless to say, it was time for an update. However, before we applied any paint, we took the time to power wash and properly scrape the surface. A good power wash is the critical first step to clear any dirt/debris so the paint properly adheres. Scraping is equally important because it removes any peeling paint and gives the new coat a better grip on the surface. From there we spot primed, and then it was time to really begin painting.
We used three new colors on the exterior. We applied Tinsmith SW 7657 on the exterior siding for a nice light gray color that brightens the building up. We applied Wall Street SW 7665 on the metal doors and frames to add an excellent contrast to the much lighter Tinsmith color. Finally, we applied Aquarium SW 6767 on all the areas that were originally dark blue. This color, as the name suggests, is a great option for aquariums because of its rich teal qualities. We also repainted the yellow gate and bicycle racks in this color to bring it all together.
The Kokomo Beach Family Aquatic Center Will Look Great For Years To Come
We are happy to serve local businesses and refresh their look, and the Kokomo Aquatic Center looks excellent. We used Sherwin Williams Emerald exterior product for this project, which means the color will last for years to come.
